Unity, Peace and Progress- “Udo Ka Nma”.OZCIT is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious and non-racial community association. The Community serves as a common forum for all indigenes of Owerri Zone living in Toronto Canada and provides a concerted front for fostering unity, social and economic well being of all its members and thus creates a sustainable relationship among Owerri people. For our purpose here in Canada, Owerri indigene means anybody that comes from the Owerri Senatorial Zone of Imo State, Nigeria, and their spouses and children. The community promotes the socio-cultural values of the Owerri people particularly the Owerri language, “Okwu Owerri” and Igbo language of Nigeria. The Community promotes mutual understanding, cooperation and interaction of its members and other organizations in Canada for the purpose of enhancing the development and integration of individual members into the Canadian socio-cultural society. Our Owerri Day Cultural Festival is celebrated every other year where Owerri cultural dances and activities are performed to the pleasure of our teeming guests. The last “Oru Owerre” was attended by invitees from all parts of the world including prominent personalities from our Igbo home land. The Owerri Zone Community in Toronto is regarded as one of the most established and strong Nigerian community organizations in Toronto Canada. The OZCIT has strong ties with Ndi Imo Canada and many of its members are foundation members of both Ndi Imo Canada and the Igbo Union of Canada. The OZCIT as an organization is also a registered and financial member of the Nigerian Canadian Association (NCA) and many OZCIT members have served both at the Executive level and the Board membership of the NCA.
