Mechanical Engineer – 4 Month Contract – Downtown Toronto – 34-37/hrMy client, an Educational Institute is seeking an Mechanical Engineer for a 4 Month Contract, which has the possibility of extension. This position would be located in Toronto and will be commencing immediately.ROLE: Mechanical Engineer

LOCATION: Downtown (College/University)

LENGTH: 4 months HOURS: 8:45- 5:00 (Additional/alternative hours required on a regular basis as a result of project deadlines)

START DATE: ASAP – urgent!

PAY: $34- $37/ hour

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent is responsible for providing full professional mechanical engineering services for projects undertaken by the Department of Design and Engineering. Projects typically include renovations and additions to existing buildings and utility distributions systems, alterations to offices, classrooms, meeting and conference rooms. Specialized work includes renovations to laboratories and commercial kitchens as well as other types of spaces and facilities involving heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, fire protection etc.

Professional services include all aspects of mechanical engineering as defined by the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) and encompass client liaison, preparation of preliminary feasibility and designs studies, reports and cost estimates, detailed design layouts, value engineering, preparation of technical working drawings and specifications, application of seal to drawings in the mechanical discipline, issuing drawings for permit, construction, tendering and performing construction review, and contract administration.

Project Design

Provides guidance to mechanical/electrical drafting staff involved in the production of construction documents. Conducts preliminary site inspections; coordinates any necessary site testing, surveys or exploration for the collection of data to be used for analysis, evaluation and preliminary design.

Prepares engineering designs, drawings, specifications and contract documents and coordinates with other disciplines.

Produces various drawings and sketches in AutoCad. Applies seal to mechanical engineering drawings; Assists in tendering projects, analyzes tender results and provides recommendations. Performs value engineering analyses as required.

Conducts site reviews during construction.

Prepares field review reports and attends regular site meetings.

Responds to RFIs, issues Site Instructions, reviews shop drawings, reviews progress claims, reviews CCN estimates and makes recommendations
