The Association of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) administers the Professional Engineers Act to serve and protect the public interest by licensing Ontario’s 80,000 professional engineers and setting standards for and regulating the engineering profession in Ontario.

PEO has an immediate opening for a Director, Information Technology on a regular full time basis. This position directs the overall activities of the Information Technology Services Department, especially Aptify (CRM solution), SharePoint (collaboration and document management), Solomon (Accounting software), ABM (custom, in-house) for budget management and OIT (Doc Finity) for image management. These applications are central to the operation of the organization, and timely and high quality support of the systems is mandatory if the organization is to function effectively.

The incumbent’s core function is all to provide innovative and constructive involvement in the areas of PEO business planning and operations where existing and emerging technologies will support and further the achievement of immediate and long-term PEO objectives.

Reporting to the Registrar, this hands-on position requires comprehensive knowledge in the areas of database management, data integrity and security methodologies, network operations, voice/data communications, systems software, hardware, design methods, processing principles, theories and concepts, technical standards for documentation, testing and training as well as support/help desk services.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in field of Information Technology or Information Technology Engineering (software discipline), or equivalent along with exceptional five to ten years of experience with business applications development in Windows Server and Unix/Linux environments. Additionally, the incumbent will possess strong leadership skills, including people management; an ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required and present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language; proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills with highly developed ability to perform general mathematical calculations for the purpose of creating business cases and budgets.
